Who is behind this
My name is Giorgio. I am a garden designer from Tuscany, in Italy, and I am the person behind The Quiet Garden. I spend my days around soil, light and slow-growing things, and my evenings writing down what I learn so that other people do not have to learn it the hard way.
How I learned this
Not in a classroom. I learned by doing it badly first: mixing my own soils and watching half of them stay wet for a fortnight, killing a few of my own cuttings, moving one plant around a room for a month to see which corner it actually liked. Every time something worked, I wrote it down. Every time something failed, I wrote down why. What is in the guides is what survived that process, nothing more.
Why these guides exist
If you have ever searched for why your Monstera has a yellow leaf, you already know the problem. One page says too much water. The next says too little. A third says it is perfectly normal. Most of it is written to fill a page, not to help a person standing in front of a plant that is clearly unhappy, at half past nine at night, with a watering can in one hand.
I wanted the opposite of that: something short, ordered and honest, that tells you where to look first, what it usually means, and what to do next. One cause at a time.
What I promise
No jargon. No guilt. No panic. I will never tell you that you have ruined a plant, because in most cases you have not. Every guide is checked and signed off by me, a real grower, and if something is not clear you can reply and I will answer. No photo or image, on this site or in the guides, is made with AI.
